The Role: What You’ll Be Leading

As Head of Building Technologies, you will:

  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership, development and support for all staff within the department
  • Shape and manage the curriculum offer, in collaboration with the Assistant Principal and other Institute Heads
  • Ensure effective planning, resourcing and timetabling of all courses
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment—supporting staff through coaching and performance reviews
  • Maintain and enhance the accuracy of curriculum information, data and reporting
  • Contribute to curriculum marketing, events and employer engagement
  • Deliver an average of 3 hours of high‑quality teaching per week
  • Represent the College at internal and external meetings, including occasional evenings/weekends
  • Oversee departmental budgets and ensure effective financial management
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and student success

What We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A relevant teaching qualification and subject specialism
  • Significant experience delivering excellent teaching and leading within Further Education
  • Experience of leading cross‑departmental themes—student engagement, progress, assessment and IQA
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong data analysis skills to inform improvement
  • Outstanding organisational and planning abilities
  • A genuine commitment to professional development and collaborative leadership
