Hull | 28 hours per week | 52 weeks per year
Salary: £26,772 - £40,052 FTE (Actual Salary £21,417.60 - £32,041.60 per annum)
40 days annual leave (pro-rata from a full time entitlement of 42 days)

About the Role

As our Lecturer in Foundation Learning (Hair & Beauty), you will work with learners across a range of foundation programmes, supporting them to develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to progress into further study, employment or wider opportunities.

The successful candidate will have a hair and beauty background and be able to use this to deliver engaging, inclusive and practical learning experiences. You will support learners with a range of needs, including those with SEND, and will be confident in adapting your teaching approach to ensure learners are able to access the curriculum and achieve their goals.

The post holder will need to be innovative, flexible and learner-focused, with the ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, while also contributing to curriculum planning, learner progress, and the wider development of the provision.

Make a Real Impact

As Lecturer in Foundation Learning (Hair & Beauty), you will work closely with curriculum leaders, teachers and senior leaders to drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment. You will support, challenge and coach staff, ensuring high expectations are embedded and that quality processes deliver meaningful impact for learners.

You will:

• Delivering high quality teaching and learning, ensuring stretch, challenge and engagement of students of all ages and abilities
• Planning, prepare and update all relevant teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and online learning materials, using Canvas
• Coordinating and support course activities which will support the achievement of curriculum area targets
• Taking responsibility for and facilitate academic tutorials for students
• Be involved in the marketing, promotion, recruitment and interviewing of students, including attending open events, school tasters and enrolment events, amongst other activities
• Assessing, monitor, and record feedback to students to facilitate their best achievement using the College’s data systems and processes, working to exam board guidelines and quality systems
• Leading, coordinate and support IV/IQA processes within the curriculum area
• Working closely with staff and managers within the College to ensure consistency and best practice is shared
• Contributing to the quality assurance processes and curriculum design within the area
• Maintaining an up to date knowledge of their subject specialism
• Completing all mandatory training in a timely manner and ensure that training is updated in accordance with College guidance/regulations
• Actively comply and contribute to the College’s policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection

About You

You will be an experienced and credible education professional with:

• Subject specialism (minimum Level 3/4)
• Cert. Ed/PGCE or willingness to work towards
• GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
• Experience of working in an academic setting and working with learners to support their needs
• Knowledge of the specialist sector
• Organisational, administrative and time management skills
• Ability to use own initiative to develop and improve the service within the constraints of the College policy and procedures
