About the Role
As our Safeguarding Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting some of the College’s most vulnerable learners, including those with EHCPs, high needs and ESOL learners. Through welfare home visits and community outreach, you will help identify safeguarding and wellbeing concerns early, supporting learners at risk of harm, exploitation or disengagement from education.
Working closely with the wider Safeguarding Team, a significant part of your role will involve visiting learners at their home addresses and carrying out community outreach activities to provide direct welfare and engagement support. This will include carrying out welfare checks, particularly where attendance is a concern and attempts to make contact have been unsuccessful, understanding barriers to attendance and taking proactive steps to help learners re-engage with education.
Please note: This role requires regular travel to learners’ homes, community locations and College campuses. A full, current driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential. All visits will be undertaken in line with the College’s lone working policy.
